Automet® FAB Digital-Twin Pipe Survey
Automet FAB is Irwin Group’s digital pipe-survey workflow for capturing the as-built geometry of installed pipework before replacement spools are detailed and prefabricated.
What the survey records
The survey captures the installed arrangement needed for engineering review, including pipe routes, interfaces, offsets, flange orientation and bolt-hole rotation. The resulting model provides a checked reference for drawings and fabrication planning.
From vessel to workshop
- Define the pipe scope, access points and required interfaces.
- Capture the as-built geometry onboard or at the project site.
- Review the digital model and prepare fabrication information.
- Prefabricate the agreed replacement scope in the workshop.
- Verify the delivered spools against the approved project information.
Where it helps
The workflow is useful where drawings are incomplete, access is constrained, existing pipe cannot be removed before measurement, or surveying and fabrication take place in different locations. Feasibility and accuracy depend on access, the agreed survey scope, engineering checks and applicable owner or classification requirements.
